O nível do rio de Contas subiu expressivamente e invadiu ruas e imóveis de Jequié, deixando várias pessoas desalojadas e um prejuízo expressivo para comerciantes. Uma das áreas mais afetadas é o Centro Comercial, que chegou a ser evacuado na manhã deste domingo, com a informação sobre a cheia do rio.

No início da última semana, o curso d’água estava na cota 1,70 metro (m). Já no fim da noite deste domingo (25), o nível atingiu 9,88 m e continua subindo. Moradores afirmam que uma enchente destas proporções não ocorria há 40 anos.

A Chesf diz que Barragem da Pedra atingiu 93% de sua capacidade total. Uma reunião entre a Prefeitura de Jequié, Corpo de Bombeiro e Chesf acontece neste momento, por volta das 11h desta segunda-feira (26).
